Background Info

This blog exists as a space first and foremost to people of color and those who regularly partake in anti-racist endeavors and affinity associations. This is also a space for those whose lives are a case-study in intersectionality, that is, an array of intersecting identities that often qualify as a gift and a burden. I hope to provide a space, a place, a time and a season for those who identity as POZ, or have love one who do,to speak their truths and their realities. I am hear to listen, and as family, I’m here to fight and produce knowledge on our behalf. I’m also here for all my Queer brothers and sisters, I’ve been out for almost 7 years now (damn I’m 22) and everyday is a process: lets take this journey together. Classism and ableism are REAL…i know first hand, let us move forward in solidarity.

I’m also a first gen-college student from small town Kansas. I’ve been through a shit-ton. I’ll just say I’m a blessed, lucky, oppressed survivor and I will leave it at that. All struggles are real yet relative and I welcome your authoritative commentary on yours, as I share pieces of my own. In this space, we are all masters (gender-neutral usage) of our own stories and I expect that anyone who speaks here, reblogs, comments or pushes back, realizes that our truths are OUR truths. I’m near to speak in solidarity with poor folk, black folk, POZ folk, queer folk, 1st gen folk or even pissed off folk…because we’re family, and we all experience them differently. With that said, BlaQueerPOZitivity is a lifestyle, a journey and a mindset. I invite you to share this with me.
